Celina

Celina joined the Café 54 program after struggling to find employment with a challenging background. She worked hard to build her employment skills, confidence, and positive work history, and soon became one of our most reliable trainees. Celina and our job developer met regularly to job search, practice interview skills, and put in applications. Celina’s tenacity paid off when she received two job offers in her coveted field—housekeeping. Celina says of her new position, “It’s hard, but I really like it.”

Jose

An entrepreneur by nature, Jose chose to enter Café 54’s training to build his work stamina, restaurant skill set, and recent employment history while taking business classes. Jose hoped to secure a part-time restaurant position as he completed his studies and worked to start his own business. With the Café’s help, Jose got a steady job in a local restaurant, cooking and serving meals. “I’m so grateful for everything the Café did for me,” Jose says. “The food prep skills I learned there are exactly what I’m doing in my new job.”
